Day of Mourning 2015
The National Day of Mourning is a day to honour and remember the millions of workers whose lives have been impacted by fatality, injury or illness while on the job. On Tuesday, April 28th, 2015, USW 7135 members joined with the HDLC and other dignitaries and unions for a Candle Lighting Ceremony in honour of these workers. The touching memorial service was followed by a candle processional to the Day of Mourning Monument at the corner of Main and Bay streets, where wreaths were laid in memory of these workers. USW Local 7135 supports and encourages workplace safety all year round, and honours and remembers all of the lives lost to workplace-related accidents or illnesses.
